Saltmarsh Curlew,
Another glorious Aberlady Curlew! I absolutely love everything about these birds, their shape, their calls, their behaviour - they are always so interesting to watch. Sometimes they appear like hunched old men, other times like confident young strutters, they can seem light and lithe whilst running along the sand - often appearing to be blown off course by the wind! This one was definitely being light and lithe, feeding in the salt marsh and I was pleased to get a sense of forward movement to the bird, in the wonderful, brackish context of Aberlady bay.
