For my degree show I painted my entire space to mimic the interior of a museum - including giving it a black and white chequered floor. This allusion to early trompe l'oeil frescos, such as those discovered at Pompeii, appealed to me as a comment on the synthetic nature of museums as in-between spaces in our everyday reality. I wanted to create a completely different sense of space for my work to hang in, away from the over-hyped nature of much of the degree show.
Within this setting I hung a series of large scale drawings of museum interiors.
