During lockdown I spent a lot of time in Holyrood Park, it is right on my doorstep and has a wonderful variety of species. I love how certain birds seem to have worked out how to live alongside humans without too much disruption. Having the opportunity to make drawings of Peregrines as they looked over the city was an absolute thrill. Perched up high, it was a bit of a struggle to draw whilst using a telescope to see this magnificent bird! This piece was two separate drawings which I brought together and developed back in the studio to give a sense of the drama of the context.
