Lapwings are another favourite bird of mine and not one I have had much chance to draw. It was wonderful to spend time making the drawings of Lapwings which went on to inform this screen print. They have such a range of interesting behaviour - quietly resting with a watchful eye on the saltmarsh, jerkily feeding, leaping about amongst the colony and that beautiful wide-winged flight. All of this behaviour was made more visually arresting set against the layered, muted shapes of the saltmarsh.
